According to preliminary data from Counterpoint Research, global PC shipments in Q2 2025 increased by 8.4% YoY, marking the largest YoY growth since the peak of pandemic-driven demand in 2022. The growth in Q2 was primarily driven by the countdown to the end of Windows 10 support, the rise of AI PCs, and early purchases spurred by market stockpiling of inventory in anticipation of upcoming back-to-school season demand at the beginning of the quarter, amid expectations of changes in tariff policies. Due to the uncertainty surrounding US tariff policies, many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are currently in a "wait-and-see" mode, and as tariff concerns continue to escalate, OEMs are adjusting their manufacturing locations. These restrictions and supply chain reconfigurations are expected to pose a significant obstacle to PC shipments in 2025.
